Night-Time Asphalt Works – 29–30 June

Due to the high temperatures, work at Polsadu Roundabout will be carried out during the evening and night hours next Monday and Tuesday (29–30 June).

If the hot weather persists beyond those dates, we will continue to perform the works during these hours on subsequent days as well.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Progress On The Site – Opening of Lublańska Street

Another Week of Progress Behind Us! 🚧🚋

What has been happening on the construction site over the past week?

Last Saturday, we opened the eastern carriageway of Młyńska Street, where the roadway is now fully completed, including the final wearing course. We also carried out asphalt paving works on Lublańska Street and at Polsadu Roundabout. The western carriageway of Lublańska Street has already received its final wearing course as well.

We are continuing intensive work on the construction of sidewalks. Paving works are currently underway on Młyńska Street (eastern side), Meissnera Street at the intersections with Chałupnika Street and Pszona Street, as well as on Lublańska Street, Dobrego Pasterza Street, Jancarza Street, near Barei Roundabout, and around the tunnel exits in the vicinity of Polsadu Roundabout.

At the same time, we are carrying out extensive landscaping works. Topsoil is currently being spread along Meissnera, Lublańska, Młyńska, Dobrego Pasterza, and Bohomolca streets. We have also completed the installation of sedum vegetation between the tram tracks on Dobrego Pasterza, Meissnera, and Bohomolca streets.

Work on the tram overhead line system is progressing, including along the tunnel section. Inside the tunnel, finishing works are also continuing—we are installing wall cladding, laying granite flooring, and assembling canopies at the tunnel exits.

We are also carrying out a range of works that may not be visible at first glance but are essential to the future operation of the tram line and the daily lives of local residents. In recent days, we completed the reconnection of sanitary utility infrastructure on Meissnera Street, at the corner of Śliczna Street, and at Młyńskie Roundabout.

At the Mistrzejowice tram terminus, the welfare building for tram and bus drivers is now in place. This is one of the essential infrastructure facilities being delivered as part of the project.

And tomorrow, we will open the western carriageway of Lublańska Street to traffic. As a result, drivers will be able to use one lane in each direction on both carriageways.

Have a great weekend! 😊

Weekly Progress Update – Młyńska Street Reopens to Traffic

Another Week Behind Us! 🚧🚋

Over the past week, we continued construction works on Bohomolca and Jancarza Streets.

On the section from the traction substation on Marchołta Street to Kurzei Street, we have completed the binder course across the full width of the roadway, leaving only the final wearing course to be laid. We do not anticipate any traffic disruptions on this section in the near future.

On the section of Jancarza Street where a temporary single-lane traffic arrangement for buses remains in place, we completed earthworks, built the road base layers, and laid the binder course on the northern side of the carriageway. From today, a new traffic arrangement is in effect: buses are now running on the newly completed side, and we have begun demolition works on the southern side.

Today, we are laying the wearing course on Młyńska Street. Tomorrow, a new traffic arrangement will be introduced, allowing traffic to use both carriageways of Młyńska Street. Significant progress is also visible at Młyńskie Roundabout. Following the reopening of the outer traffic lanes, we completed the reconnection of the final section of the sanitary sewer system, and the roundabout’s central island is taking on its final shape. Polsad Roundabout has also received a new road surface—approximately 90% of the binder course has already been completed, and work is currently focused on the approaches to the roundabout.

This week also saw continued work on the installation of sedum vegetation, including along Dobrego Pasterza Street and Krzesławicka Street. These are among the final deliveries of sedum plants to the construction site. Within the next two weeks, the sedum cover will extend along the entire length of the green tram tracks.

Elements of the final traffic organization are becoming increasingly visible as well. Approximately 60% of the project area has already been equipped with traffic posts and, progressively, permanent traffic signs. In the tunnel, we are completing the installation of the support structures for the overhead traction system, while on Meissnera Street the traction network is already fully installed. The remaining task is to connect it to Jana Pawła II Avenue, which is planned for the summer period following coordination of the schedule with the road authority.

Substantial progress is also evident inside the tunnel, where approximately 95% of the perforated metal wall cladding has already been completed. Week by week, the project is increasingly taking on its final form, and each completed stage brings us closer to launching the new tram connection. 🚋

Progress update on Jancarza and Bohomolca streets

We’re one week into works on Jancarza and Bohomolca streets. Here’s what has been completed so far and what lies ahead:

🔹 Section from the traction substation (Marchołta St. – Kurzei St.)
Work is underway on constructing the aggregate subbase along the outer lane of the roadway. Bituminous (asphalt) works are scheduled to begin next week.

🔹 Jancarza St. (from the intersection with Kurzei St. to Parnickiego St.)
Currently, we are strengthening the ground and constructing an aggregate subbase on half of the roadway width.
In the coming weeks, we will start paving works (installing curbs), followed by bituminous works.

🔹 Traffic organization
Once the new bituminous layers are completed, alternating (single-lane) bus traffic will be shifted onto the new surface. This will allow work to begin on the other half of the roadway.

Thank you for your patience and for staying cautious in the construction area!

5th of June – Beginning of Roadworks on Jancarza Street

Dear Residents,

On 5 June, the first stage of renovation works will begin on Jancarza and Bohomolca Streets.

Until the end of the school year, public transport will operate without major restrictions, and access to the surrounding housing estates will be maintained throughout the entire reconstruction period. In this stage, on the section from Kurzei Street to Parnickiego Street, car traffic will be closed, and municipal buses will operate in a shuttle system.

Detours: In the Mistrzejowice area, along the entire section of Kazimierza Jancarza Street and Srebrnych Orłów Street up to Piastowskie Roundabout, signage will direct drivers via Wiślicka Street, Dobrego Pasterza Street, and Bohomolca Street to the estate entrances. In the Bieńczyce area, the suggested detour will lead through Broniewskiego Street and gen. Andersa Street, and then via Dobrego Pasterza Street.

We are attaching a visual map showing the first stage of works.

Progress on the Site

Another week of intensive work is behind us! What happened on the KST IV construction site between 1–5 June?

This week, our teams were working simultaneously on many fronts of the project.

On Strzelców Street, we rerouted the stormwater drainage system and adjusted the manholes in preparation for future asphalting. On Jancarza Street, we introduced a temporary traffic organization and began dismantling the road surface, opening the way for the next stages of work.

Roadworks are progressing intensively in the southern part of the project. On Młyńska Street, we completed work on the stormwater system, are building the aggregate and bituminous base layers, and are carrying out paving works. Paving works are also underway on Łąkowa and Ugorek Streets. Road construction continues as well on the access road to the office buildings on Lublańska Street.

Inside the tunnel, installation of granite flooring, ceiling cladding, and jet fans is ongoing.

Our electrical teams continue installing traffic lights and street lighting at additional locations along the route.

Thank you for your patience, and stay tuned to our profile for the latest updates from the construction site!

The Tram to Mistrzejowice through the eyes of children

As part of the recurring “Little Champions” workshops organised for the Tram to Mistrzejowice project, children created artworks showing public transport and the investment from their own perspective. Each drawing tells a different story, offers a unique point of view, and is full of children’s creativity.

To celebrate Children’s Day, we decided to share these works with the residents of Kraków by creating an outdoor exhibition. Selected illustrations were displayed on banners near the Tram to Mistrzejowice construction site, bringing a bit of children’s energy and color into the project area. 🦄🌈

At Gulermak, we believe that urban investments are about more than just building infrastructure. We are proud that we were able to introduce more than a thousand children to the world of construction. Who knows — maybe some of them left our workshops with a new dream of becoming an engineer one day? 👷‍♂️

We would like to thank all the young artists for their enthusiasm and wonderful creations.

Renovation of Bohomolca and Jancarza Streets

At the beginning of June, renovation works will begin on Jancarza and Bohomolca Streets.

The works will be carried out as an additional task.

The works will start after the Corpus Christi holiday. Until the end of the school year, public transport and access to nearby housing estates will remain in operation. On the section from Kurzei Street to Parnickiego Street, car traffic will be closed, but a shuttle (one‑way alternating) passage for municipal buses will be maintained.

During the summer holidays, the second stage of works will begin. At that time, Jancarza and Bohomolca Streets will be completely closed to traffic. This solution will shorten the duration of the project, allowing the modernization to be completed by the end of the summer instead of taking around four months. Sections of the streets will be gradually reopened as the works progress.

Progress On The Construction Site

Another week of intensive work behind us!

We have completed two more major changes that will make it easier for residents to move around the area. What has happened on the construction site in recent days?

Today we opened Młyńska Boczna Street. We carried out bituminous works there — only the final wearing course remains to be laid, which is planned for June.

We are continuing road works in the southern part of the project. Today we are laying the wearing course on the eastern carriageway of Meissnera Street, from Aleja Jana Pawła II to Rondo Młyńskie. We expect that already this evening (around 8:00 PM), car traffic will be allowed on both carriageways of Meissnera Street (one lane per direction).

We are also preparing the bicycle path on the eastern side of Meissnera Street. It is already ready on the section from Rondo Młyńskie to Ugorek Street, while work continues on the remaining part. Unfortunately, recent unfavorable weather conditions prevented asphalt works, delaying the opening of the bicycle path in this area. We are working to make it available in the coming days!

Work continues in other areas as well. This week we completed track installation along the entire Meissnera section. Our electrical teams are working on activating additional sections of the final street lighting. On Meissnera Street, lighting works are nearing completion. Installation of controllers, poles and traffic signals is also underway in the southern part of the project, including Meissnera Street, Aleja Jana Pawła II and Mogilska Street.

Finishing works are ongoing in the tunnel. Wall and floor cladding is being installed, along with jet fans for ventilation.

Thank you for your patience, and stay tuned for the latest updates from the construction site!

Installation of elevators and escalators

More finishing works in the tunnel completed!

In recent days, we have finished installing one of the two elevators intended for emergency services. We now have three passenger elevators ready, and at the same time we are working on installing two more at the exits toward Lublańska Street and Młyńska Street. In total, there will be seven passenger elevators at the tunnel exits.

Work on installing the escalators is also progressing. Recently, we installed the escalators at Rondo Polsad, and we are now working on the final set at the exit located at the corner of Promienistych Street and Lublańska Street. Escalators are located at four of the seven tunnel exits — on both sides of Młyńska Street and Lublańska Street.

How will movement inside the tunnel work?

The circulation system has been designed to be accessible to all residents. In addition to fixed and moving staircases, the design includes as many as seven passenger elevators — two at Lublańska Street, two at Młyńska Street, and elevators at the Polsad Roundabout and Młyńskie Roundabout stops. Two of them are adapted for use by emergency and fire services — they are located to ensure quick access to both platforms of the stop.

How is an elevator installed?

Installing an external elevator is a multi‑stage process that begins with constructing a monolithic reinforced‑concrete load‑bearing structure, permanently connected to the tunnel structure. Next, a steel roof structure is installed, consisting of beams and girders mounted on the upper part of the main structure. The following stage is the installation of the elevator itself, including the cabin, guide rails, doors on each level, control cabinet, motor, and machine room. Finally, finishing and sealing works are carried out — installing glass panels on the walls and roof, as well as sheet‑metal cladding that protects the entire structure from water and wind.

Step by step, the tunnel is getting ready to welcome passengers.
