Late in the evening, after 10:00 PM, technical test runs at the intersection of Mogilska Street, Meissnera Street, and John Paul II Avenue were completed. At this intersection, we connected a new section of track leading toward Mistrzejowice to the existing tram network. All tests were completed successfully!
What work was carried out over the past four days?
First, we installed the overhead traction power system connecting the above-mentioned streets with the new section of tram track along Meissnera Street. We then conducted electrical measurements. After obtaining positive results, we proceeded with a trial run using a tram, during which we verified the alignment of the overhead traction system in relation to the track. The operation of the switch-heating systems and switch control mechanisms was also tested.
The proper alignment of the overhead traction system is crucial for ensuring even wear of the pantograph and the stable operation of tram propulsion systems during regular service.
Below, you can see what the very first test run looked like.
