This week, the first escalators were installed at the Rondo Polsad station.
The station will have four entrances: two located on both sides of Młyńska Street, and two more on Lublańska Street — one at the intersection with Promienistych Street, and the other near the office buildings. Thanks to this layout, passengers will be able to reach the station safely and comfortably from every side of Rondo Polsad.
Access to the facility, which is approximately 20 meters deep, will be provided by five elevators, six pairs of escalators, and six sets of traditional open staircases.
The station design was consulted with the Consultative Team for the Accessibility of Municipal Infrastructure for People with Disabilities, operating under the District Social Council for People with Disabilities at the Mayor of Kraków. Thanks to clear guidelines, we were able to adapt the facility to the needs of people with reduced mobility, wheelchair users, and people who are visually impaired or blind. Special emphasis was placed on eliminating potential barriers on the station platforms. Warning strips with a changed texture and contrasting colours will appear at the platform edges and before each descent to the underground platforms (near staircases).
Rondo Polsad Station is a two-level interchange hub — undoubtedly one of the most impressive parts of the KST IV project!
The completion of works on Dobrego Pasterza is getting closer!
Only a few days remain until the street is reopened — we’re planning it for December 5 at 22:00. What have we done over the past week?
Bituminous layers have been laid on 300 meters of the roadway, and by Thursday we will finish the remaining 450 meters.
Tomorrow, December 2, we will complete the construction of the curbs.
We are finalising work on the tram tracks — the tram crossing near Biedronka is already finished, and the one at Krzesławicka Street will be completed by the end of the week.
By the end of the week, we will also prepare the traffic organisation — vertical signs and road markings. We are also finishing work on the bus bays. Due to the required 28-day curing period after concreting, buses will still have to stop on the roadway for a few more weeks (except for the bay near the Municipal Guard building, which was completed earlier).
We’re really close now – thank you for sticking with us!
Krakow’s Mistrzejowice Tram Tunnel: Impressive Progress Brings Us Closer To The Finish Line!
The tunnel in the central section of the tram line to Mistrzejowice is the most labour-intensive part of the construction. It will be a key part of the city’s new tram infrastructure, starting from the Chałupnika Street and passing through Młyńskie Roundabout in a semi-cutting, and finally entering a fully enclosed tunnel just before Polsad Roundabout. It will allow the tram to safely pass beneath the city, while minimizing disruption on the surface.
After months of intensive work, we’ve successfully broken through the southern section of the tunnel. With the continuous operation of three Long Arm excavators, our team achieved a daily excavation output of 600 m³, working six days a week, from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM – a testament to dedication and teamwork.
Thanks to early groundwater management, work proceeded smoothly, and the tunnel has already reached a depth of 14 meters at Młyńska Boczna Street. Simultaneously, temporary bracing of diaphragm walls is underway to prepare the site for a stormwater pumping station four meters below the future track level.
A Major Achievement!
We now have over one kilometer of continuous tunnel, with only a single remaining section left to excavate, on Pilotów Street, near the music school. Excavation on this section is planned to be completed in just two weeks, by December 3, 2025.
The breakthrough was summarized by the construction manager, Wojciech Janosz: “This is a major milestone for the project. Completing this section of the tunnel is the result of harmonious teamwork among many specialists and represents an impressive technological achievement.”
As we approach the completion date, we will see more and more visible progress. This is especially impressive given the complexity of building in the heart of the city. With each passing day, we get closer to the finish line, and soon the results of this enormous effort will become fully visible.
We would like to inform you that starting from Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the morning hours, Dobrego Pasterza Street will be closed to traffic on the section between Rondo Barei and the exit near the Serenada shopping center. The planned closure will last for one month.
Residents of the surrounding neighborhoods will still be able to access their properties via local residential roads. For residents of buildings and customers of businesses located on Dobrego Pasterza Street who cannot be reached through side roads, access will be provided via the shared pedestrian–vehicle path on the north side of the street. Pedestrians will also be able to use the sidewalk on the south side of the street, located between the residential buildings and the tram tracks.
Public transport will operate along Bora-Komorowskiego Avenue, Lublańska Street, and Strzelców Street. Detailed information about bus routes will be published soon by the Public Transport Authority.
On the closed section, we will be carrying out comprehensive reconstruction work. The plan includes replacing the road foundation and subgrade to a depth of 1.2 meters, replacing curbs, and building new bus bays. The decision to close the entire section at once was made to speed up completion — closing the street in stages could have taken up to three times longer. With this approach, we estimate that the work will be completed by early December.
We apologize for the inconvenience and kindly ask everyone to exercise extra caution in the construction area. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Dear Residents, Please be informed that on Monday and Tuesday (November 3–4, 2025), from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the entrance to the housing estate on Załuskich Street will be closed. Access will be possible via the neighboring estate roads from Bohomolca Street.
We would like to inform you that from tomorrow, October 29, 2025, until Friday, October 31, 2025, the entrance to and exit from Jerzy Bajan Street onto Pilotów Street will be closed.
We apologise for the inconvenience and ask that you exercise caution when driving in the construction area.
We would like to inform you that tonight, October 27, 2025 (from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.), work will be carried out on John Paul II Avenue involving the dismantling of the old heating network. Bus traffic will be maintained.
We would like to inform you that starting next Monday, November 3, 2025, a change in traffic organization will be introduced on Bohomolca Street. Due to construction work related to the creation of a right-turn lane into the Oświecenia Estate, the right traffic lane will be closed.
Turning right will still be possible from the left lane.
Attention! Traffic disruption from the 24th to the 26th of October.
Dear residents,
Due to the construction of a district heating network carried out by MPEC Kraków for the NOHO development, we inform that from October 24 to 26, temporary traffic disruptions may occur in the area of the entrance from Mogilska Street to Czyżyńska Street.
We kindly ask all drivers and pedestrians to exercise extra caution and follow the temporary traffic arrangements in place during the works.
At the same time, we inform that no interruptions in hot water supply are expected in connection with these works.
